This itinerary of just over one hundred kilometres begins in Villanueva Soportilla, next to the Hoces de Sobrón; the canyon carved by the River Ebro is an invitation to enjoy nature. A local road connects with the BU-525 to reach Santa Gadea del Cid. Further on, after linking with the N-I, you arrive in Pancorbo, right at the entrance to the gorge and a historic key stop on the Jacobean route. On the outskirts, the ruins of the Fort of Santa Engracia recall the struggle against Napoleonic troops. The N-I continues to the nearby town of Miranda de Ebro.

The same road continues to Puebla de Arganzón, in the County of Treviño; this town preserves artistic treasures such as the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción. A few kilometres away, along the CL-127, lies Treviño, which boasts magnificent noble houses. The nearby hermitage of San Vicentejo is one of the greatest treasures of Romanesque art.

From Sáseta you can admire the formations of the Ayuda River gorge. The CL-127 takes you to Obécuri, the last village in the County, with a beautiful Baroque hermitage and extensive beech and oak forests in its surroundings.

A gigantic and almost insurmountable mountain amphitheatre surrounds the Burgos lands of the Ebro riversides and the County of Treviño. Throughout history, the only access points to these two natural regions have been a series of spectacular gorges. The most notable are those of Pancorbo and Sobrón. The former has served as an essential passage for the various peoples who have lived on the Iberian Peninsula and as a natural communication route between central and northern Spain.

The Obarenes Mountains form a natural boundary between the regions of the Ebro riversides and the County of Treviño and the rest of the province. The gorges carved by the river define a mountainous environment rich in plant species, woodlands, birds of prey, and diverse wildlife. In any case, the gorges have long been gateways to the plateau and hide within them beautiful villages and a rich artistic and architectural heritage.
