The province of Burgos has deep roots in the Camino de Santiago. Its unique geographical location has made it, for centuries, a mandatory passage for millions of European pilgrims seeking the tomb of the Apostle Saint James. In the province, this route stretches for 114 kilometers from east to west along the so-called French Way, a route described in the 12th century by the French monk Aymeric Picaud. Along the way, the itinerary offers beautiful natural landscapes and a rich artistic heritage, with numerous hospitals, churches, and hermitages.
